If you’re reading this article, you’re probably an RV owner who just signed up for RVshare, and we would like to thank you for taking the time to explore the opportunities that RVshare has to offer!
In order to get started with your account, you’ll need to access our website at www.rvshare.com. Once there, you will need to click the “List Your RV” button in the top right corner of the homepage to start the process of creating your RV listing.
On this first page, you will need to fill out some basic information including your name, the type of unit you will be renting out, your zip-code and your email address. Once you have filled out those fields, click on “See How Much You Can Make” at the bottom of the page.
Submitting that form will automatically create an RVshare account for you, and when you complete the subsequent steps, your RV listing will be automatically saved to your account. Additionally, you can leave the page at any time and your progress will automatically be saved. So the next time you log back in, you will be taken right back to where you left off!
Next, you will be taken to the page where you’ll need to give a more detailed location and your phone number. Be sure to submit a full street address for your location, as this is critical to your listing appearing accurately in the search results. Don’t worry, renters won’t receive any of this information until you have booked a reservation with them.
When you go to enter your phone number, there is a box below it that you can either leave checked or unchecked. Leaving the field checked will result in you receiving text alerts whenever someone new expresses an interest in your RV. Unchecking that box will simply disable that feature for your profile. Once that is done, you will need to click, “Continue.”
From there, you will be taken to a page that will describe some of the free services that we offer to you as an owner. Be sure to read these brief descriptions in detail, as they come at no cost to you and should help build your confidence in the fact that you and your RV will be well taken care of! Once you have read about these services, you will want to continue on to the next page.
Here, you will be asked to enter the stated value of your unit. The stated value is simply the current market value of your unit. It is important that you enter the correct price, as this will also determine how much your renters will pay in order to have RVshare Rental Insurance active during their rentals. Please note that RVs longer than 36’ in length will have a $5 upcharge attached to the standard per-day insurance fee. Once you have the information entered, you will continue to the next page.
This page simply requires you to enter a bit more information about yourself and about your RV. Most of these fields will already be populated with information that you have previously entered. The only new pieces of information that will need to be added are the length of your RV as well as how many people it can comfortably sleep. Once this information is entered, you can proceed to the next page.
Here, you will be asked to provide the VIN number of your RV. While this is required for RVshare Rental Insurance to be used for your rentals, you may skip this step for now and come back to it later. However, please note that you will not be able to accept any rentals until the VIN number is on file. From here, you can continue to the next phase of the listing process.
On this next page, you will be asked to describe your RV, list some of its amenities, as well as give some suitability preferences. This is a place where you can really be creative and expressive on your listing. You will have the option to give your listing a name, which can be anything that you desire, along with a description of the RV for your renters. You will be able to express the personality of your unit and let renters know why they should choose your RV over any other options that they might have. Have fun with it!
From there, you will be able to check any suitability preferences that you have. This includes things such as whether or not you will permit smoking or pets during the rentals. Once you have made your decisions there, you will be asked to check off any boxes next to amenities that your RV offers. This includes things such as AC, a DVD player, a TV, fire extinguisher, etc. Once you have checked all of the amenities that your RV offers, you will be ready to proceed to the next page by clicking “Continue.”
Here, you will be able to set your prices. You are in complete control of the amount that you wish to charge. You will have the option of setting your nightly, weekly, and even monthly rates here. If you’re not sure what you should be charging, there is an option here to move your rates to “suggested prices” in which you will allow us to set your prices for you based on the averages that we see on our platform.
Underneath the pricing, you will see the option to set a required minimum number of nights for your rentals. For example, if you do not wish to go through the rental process for a rental that will only last one night, you can go ahead and set your minimum number of nights to 2 or more. Once you are done there, you will be asked how much you wish to charge for a security deposit. You can either leave it at the default of $500 or change it to whatever amount you choose. Keep in mind, though, that the RVshare Rental Insurance deductible is $1,500, so we often recommend setting the security deposit to this amount so you are prepared in the event that a claim will need filed.
In the upper right corner of the page, you will see a field for you to enter a tax percentage for your rentals. This is not required, though we do recommend that you check on your state’s tax laws, as some may require you to do so. You will then have the option of setting allowances for mileage and generator usage. You can either use the RVshare recommended settings or set your own. After you have decided how you want things to go there, you will see a tab where you can set your cancellation policy. Please read the description of each policy in full, and make the choice that best works for you and would reflect the type of business you would like to run. After you have done that, you will be ready to continue to the next page.
Here, you will be asked to upload at least one photo of your RV, though we recommend uploading at least 5 in order to provide potential renters with a clear idea of what to expect if they were to rent your RV. Once you are finished, you will continue on to the next page, where you will be asked to upload a profile picture.
Once your photos are uploaded, you will then be given the option to share your listing on social media so your friends and followers can check it out! At this point, your RV listing is complete, and will be posted to the site so potential renters can start inquiring!
