Once you have done a search and found some RVs you are interested in, you will need to send an inquiry to the owners to let them know you are interested. There are three different ways you can reach out to an owner.
Contact Owner
If you have found an RV that you are interested in, but have more questions that the listing does not answer, then you can send a message to the owner by clicking on 'Contact Owner' at the bottom of the listing.
This will allow you to start your conversation with the owner without being at risk of being charged to book the reservation up front. You will want to ask the owner any questions you may have before booking. Once you book, if you realize that the rental is not going to work for you, the cancellation policy will be upheld, which may result in you not receiving all of your money back.
Request Quote
If there are fees or seasonal rates that you are unsure of and would like the owner to send you a quote before deciding if you want to book, then you can click on Request Quote, which is located below the Rates table on the owner’s listing.
As soon as you click on Request Quote, a message will be sent to the owner to let them know that you would like them to send you a quote. A pop-up will then appear, prompting you to also submit a Request to Book. If you click on Request to Book from there, you will be taken to the checkout page, where you will be required to enter your credit card information in order to complete the request. You are not required to complete this page in order to request a quote. If you complete that checkout page and click “Request To Book,” you will be at risk of being charged if the owner accepts the request.
Request to Book
When you are on an owner’s listing and have decided that you are interested in renting it, you can submit a Request to Book by entering in your dates at the top and clicking on the yellow “Request to Book” button. This will take you to the checkout page where you will need to enter in your credit card information in order to complete the request.
On the checkout page, you will be shown a breakdown of the rental price, fees, taxes, and cost of insurance (if that RV has RVshare insurance activated). The breakdown also includes the cancellation policy, which is set by the owner.
If you click the blue cancellation policy text, a pop-up will appear to show you exactly what the policy is. This cancellation policy is chosen by the owner and will be upheld should you need to cancel the reservation. However, if the owner cancels the reservation, you will not be charged any fees and will automatically receive a full refund.
When submitting the request to book, you will also be given the opportunity to send a message to the owner along with your request. Here, we suggest you write a note about your trip or anything else you think the RV owner should know!
Once you have entered in your credit card information and reviewed the charges and policies, you will then click on “Request to Book” in order to send your request. As noted on the checkout page, by clicking on “Request to Book,” you agree to pay the total amount shown and to the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Cancellation Policy, and Insurance Terms of Service.
Once you have submitted the request, the owner will have 72 hours to either accept or decline your request, after which the request will expire. If the owner accepts the request, your card will be charged and the reservation will be booked.
Post Inquiry Contact
After you have sent your initial inquiry to the owner, a conversation will be created that will appear in your RVshare Inbox. You can access this conversation in order to send additional messages to the owner or view any responses they may have sent to you. Log into your RVshare account and click on Inbox. You will see your messages with any owners you have contacted there.
