Once the RV is back in your possession and before the renter leaves, you will perform a walkthrough with the renter using the Return Form. The purpose of this is to record any damages or fees the renter is responsible for paying. You can find and print the Return Form by logging into your RVshare account, and clicking on the “Documents” tab.
Step 1 - Damage Walkthrough
The purpose of this walkthrough is to discover and record any damage that has occurred during the rental. You must do a comprehensive review of the condition of the entire interior and exterior, including the undercarriage and roof, of the RV. Although you will have 72 hours to submit the checkout form to report the damages, it is in your best interest to discover any and all damage now so that the renter can sign off on it. This will eliminate the possibility of a claims dispute. You should spend at least 10 minutes thoroughly examining the exterior of the unit with the renter. You should spend at least 15 minutes thoroughly examining the interior of the unit with the renter.
Step 2 - Overview of Conditional Fees
The purpose of this step is to remind the renter about all of their responsibilities as well as the additional fees that they may have incurred if they failed to meet these responsibilities. You must record the odometer reading and fuel level in the presence of the renter.
Step 3 - Sign Off
Once all steps on the Return Form have been completed and documented, both the owner and the primary renter (whoever signed the Rental Agreement) must sign off on the Return Form.
After the unit has been returned, the owner has up to 72 hours to request any claims against the security deposit or request that additional charges be made to the renter (ie conditional fees). The renter will be notified if charges are made against the security deposit and will have the ability to dispute these charges within a reasonable timeframe as determined by RVshare. Settled claims in excess of security deposit may be charged to the primary renter’s credit card by RVshare.
